This workshop is designed for the beginner wanting to discover the basics in the world of digital photography and become skilled in capturing real life situations and develop their personal creativity.

Is the workshop interactive?
yes the workshops with be interactive. Yes, you will have assignments. There will be a forum that everyone can ask questions, comment of others work, ask questions ask questions ask questions! I will be a huge active part in the forums as well answering all the questions that arise.

Is the workshop self-paced?
The best part about the workshops are that they are self paced! You are not pushed to hurry along the program, you don't have deadlines or a time when your membership won't expire after 6 weeks. In fact once you have access to the workshop you will for 6 months! That means all the information will be handy to you and you will still be able to participate in the forums well beyond finishing. You will also be able to 'brush up' on any part or all of the course. You will have access in October but if you can't get right at it then, it will still be there for when you can! I wanted the workshops to work with everyone's schedules. I know things come up, there are times when you can focus more than others and I want everyone to get the MOST out of the workshops so I didn't want to pace it fast just to heard people in and out. The point of me doing this is to teach people what I know. I truly just want people to know there is a place to go for help...somewhere where you don't have to beg or beat around the bush for a strait answer. I hope that I can create that.

Do I need a camera to start?
Since you will have access to the workshop for 6 months after you register it is not necessarily required to have a dslr camera bought when you begin the workshop. A lot of cameras that aren't dslr do have manual mode options so it is not required to make a big investment in a camera...just yet! There will be a section early on in both workshops about different cameras (mostly Nikons which is what I shoot) but you will learn about differences and what to look for--You will be educated on that subject so you know what to look for and what will best suit you. {A little pre-workshop advise to those who really want a camera now...I do believe that any of the D series of Nikons are excellent. I shoot with both a D80 (my first camera) and a D300. I know of a photographer who uses a D40 and produces phenomenal photographs. The most important thing is your lens. A good 'piece of glass' is the key. If you are getting started and you don't want to spend your life savings (just kidding really...but it is an investment!) then a great prime lens to start with is the 50mm because it is excellent and only $100...gasp!

Which workshop should I take?
The workshops are designed for two separate groups of interest. Those who just want to learn photography would be good with Starting Fresh...that workshop teaches all the basic and gets you ready to go shooting in manual mode. Those who want to learn photography and want to start a business in photography would want to go with the Ready to Evolve. It has everything that the Starting Fresh workshop has and much MUCH more about the business side of photography.

A little about Chantri:

As an avid lover of photography for several years, I formerly pursued careers in administration, beauty and medicine before landing the special "career" of being a homemaker & mother; the combinations of these lead me to my passion- photography. I am crazy about it! If you happen to run into me, you just might find a camera in my hands. My children (bless their hearts for being such willing subjects) will testify to this. My repertoire has expanded to include pregnancy, newborns, seniors, adults, family, weddings, teams, and corporate photography. As a self-taught artist and entrepreneur, I have quickly become successful and developed a broad, loyal client base. I am not a traditional photographer. I view portraiture as the art of character expression, a true reflection of natural charisma. I aim to capture the many sides of my subject's personality. I like to mix classic poses with what some people term "photojournalism". I like to think of it as spontaneous fun. I arrange the setup and let moments happen. I also think a beautiful image isn't necessarily a smiling one-- but it can be! Truly beautiful photographs to me are those that are honest and real and which capture some essence of the subject that speaks through the image. I believe sessions should be a fun, relaxed experience. That is one of my main goals when working with people. When they are comfortable in front of the camera it shows. Shooting my subjects in a friendly, relaxed manner, my focus is on the comfort and enjoyment of those I photograph. Years of working with and photographing people and a keen and artful eye has honored my ability to create beautifully unique, artistic portraits. I also believe that a great photographer is one who is comfortable behind the lens. One who has complete confidence in oneself. One who knows how to capture a great image in any situation.

I am learning and growing as a photographer on a daily basis. I don't believe it is possible to be a master at anything. I believe if you truly love what you do you will always be learning and growing to develop new horizons. There is no limit to what you love. You can always learn more and love more.
